Leather care

Genuine leather is a natural material that requires specific and regular care. With proper and regular care, we can achieve long-lasting healthy leather without cracking, color stains, spots, or dry areas. Leather that is nourished over a long period of time is soft and more resistant to mechanical damage. It also absorbs less natural moisture and dirt does not penetrate into the deeper layers of the leather.

It is important to note that some parts of the leather may show visible traces of insect bites, scratches from branches, stretch marks, abrasions, etc. This is a normal and common occurrence in the life of an animal. This is not a defect in the material or damage. The MOGU brand always strives to select the best and highest quality materials, but occasionally you may find these small marks.

Some leather products contain natural oils that keep the leather soft, supple, and strong. If this layer is damaged, the leather may start to crack, dry out, or change color. This can be prevented with proper care and suitable leather care products.

If you get your hands on leather in a pure natural color, rest assured that its shade will change over the years and the leather will acquire a unique patina. This patina is inimitable and is one of the most valuable and unique shades. That's why it's worth spending a few minutes caring for your leather.

Storage:

Proper storage is also a key component in maintaining healthy leather. Do not leave leather products or products with leather parts in direct sunlight or near a heat source (heaters, fireplaces, stoves, hair dryers, etc.).

Avoid exposure to frost, damp environments, and rain. Store in a dry environment at a low room temperature.

Cleaning:

If you get a leather product dirty, it is necessary to clean the area. This can be done very gently and slowly with a damp cloth (not wet). If the stain is stubborn, you can try a soap solution (water and a small amount of cleaning detergent) and again clean the area with a damp cloth. The leather must not be wet. Clean the surface with gentle circular movements. Avoid strong pressure and aggressive scrubbing. This can damage the leather surface.

Dry off any excess moisture with a dry cloth and allow to dry naturally in the air. Avoid sunlight.

Leather cleaning products are also available on the market.

Always apply the product to a cloth, never directly to the leather surface, and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Nourishment and impregnation:

Leather requires regular care to maintain its quality. Do not forget to treat your leather products or leather parts of our products with leather nourishing products.

In our production, we use beeswax as a surface treatment, which nourishes the leather deeply and at the same time provides adequate protection against external influences.

Apply beeswax with a clean cloth and spread evenly over the leather surfaces. Allow the wax to soak in for about 1 hour (but at least 30 minutes), then use another clean, dry cloth to remove excess wax and moisture from the leather surfaces. Allow to dry naturally in the air without direct sunlight.

You can also use a highly impregnating balm for leather care. This will create a protective film on the leather surface that will protect it from weather conditions such as increased humidity or rain for a certain period of time. Follow the manufacturer's instructions when applying.

Damage:

Scratches, nicks, cuts—these mechanical damages are usually permanent. Fine scratches and nicks can be smoothed out to some extent with a round, smooth object. If the leather is significantly cut in some places, it is best to consult a specialist about this defect.

Wet stains – if liquid is spilled on the leather, act quickly. Dry the area with a dry cloth and then try to gently clean the area using a suitable method.

Sunlight – significantly affects the color of the leather. Permanent changes may occur – change in shade or fading of colors.
